We’re not one to get into the nitty gritty of the actual game we talk about constantly. However, we felt the newest Magic: The Gathering product deserves our attention and you good folks deserve our take on it. So today, we’re going to be reviewing the newest Magic: The Gathering product everyone is talking about. No, not that one. No, the other one. The new one.
Its release has certainly been tumultuous due to everything that happened prior to release. But now that it is here people are understandably upset while others are excited, and for good reason. But are the people who are critical of the release justified in their response? Or is this simply a product suited for a specific sect of the MTG sphere? Let’s take a detailed look at what makes this product so divisive.
Right off the bat it’s easy to argue the price is pretty high. Though if you ignore that you’re just getting cardboard game pieces you have to admit that the cards themselves are pretty great. New art, reprints, and special art treatments are all here. A lot of these cards will have an impact on the game.
Despite the price, many MTG players plan on buying this anyway and don’t give negative reactions much thought. This will find a home on many a collector’s shelf as well as card sellers looking to move singles. Those looking to purchase this in the hopes of an investment are certainly taking a risk, though it may pay off for them in the end should the market take these cards in the right direction.
All in all, we’re adamant that people spend money on the singles they need for their decks, but if this product speaks to you and you can afford it, who are we to say if it’s worth it one way or another? Do what makes you happy!
We’re going to say that this product is a solid 7.5 – 8 out of 10. As we mentioned price and availability could be a bit better, but you shouldn’t have too hard a time picking it up online. But be sure to check with your local game store first before supporting those big box retailers. This may not be a product for everyone, but if it speaks to you then we encourage you to support it since the sound of your wallet opening is what’s heard by those that create the game we all love.

omg. dry erase cards. Of all the dry erase cards these are the driest. “How dry are they?” As dry as my wife after hearing me talk about how great MTG is. Sahara dry.
